– Porsche released the track-focused 997-generation GT3 in 2006 as the most aggressive normally-aspirated version of the 911 before the introduction of the more hardcore GT3 RS. It featured a 3.8-liter “Mezger” engine, lift-reducing aerodynamic body work, a revised version of Porsche Active Suspension Management System (PASM), and no rear seats. Armed with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and a flat-6 engine that can rev up to 8,400 rpm, the 997.2 GT3 is still considered one of the most exciting road-legal sports cars money can buy.
